Hey, Scarlet Collective!
Seven months ago, I pressed publish on Scarlet Yearnings and felt my heart do the electric slide. One month ago, I hit that glorious green button again—this time for Scarlet Birthright—and the dance turned into a full-blown carnival. 🎉 Thank you for making both books shimmy their way onto bedside tables worldwide (Trinidad and Tobago | Hungary | Australia | Canada | USA | Japan).
In April, I swapped my fuzzy author socks for carry-on sneakers and flew to Ghana—my very first step onto the African continent. I breathed in Accra’s sea breeze, let Elmina’s walls whisper their stories, and stuffed my pockets with fresh inspiration (yes, I breezed past TSA and they did not raise an eyebrow at the extra “ideas” I smuggled home in my head).
Between bowls of jollof and bouts of jet-lagged wonder, I’m polishing new pieces for a handful of literary magazines and anthologies.
Touched By the Homeland
Inspired by my fellow storytellers, I crafted this story to celebrate those who are often overlooked by history. Their remarkable physical and spiritual resistance has been a guiding light for us, helping us to thrive against incredible odds.
Adeline and her vampiric child’s story began one Saturday afternoon at the Fellowship of the Griots' online writing session, where we rethought vampire myths. My mind traveled back to Ghana, where I’d walked the same paths as my ancestors.
A quick housekeeping note with a wink:
💌 To every “marketing guru” who’s slid into my DMs lately—consider this your gentle invitation to buy the book first and market it to your own heart’s content—sans money from me. My spam folder is stuffed; my TBR could use the company. 😉
How you can ride shotgun on this journey
Keep those reviews coming. Your words sway new readers more than any algorithm wizardry ever could.
Tell a friend—or ten. Word of mouth is still the juiciest magic.
Hit reply. Seriously. What Ghanaian must-try food, hidden bookstore, or playlist should I seek out? Drop me your book recs!
I’ll share photos, field notes, and the occasional “wish you were here” ramble straight to your inbox. Buckle up—this voyage promises fresh pages, deeper roots, and, I suspect, a plot twist or two.
With gratitude as wide as the Atlantic and excitement brighter than Accra’s night market lights,
Scarlet Ibis James 🌺
P.S. If you haven’t snagged the latest book yet, consider this your nudge. The characters are waiting, passports stamped, ready to meet you.

Wow! I'm speechless, Scarlet. Touched By My Hometown sounds amazing. History has buried some heroic people. Remembering them this way will keep their memories alive for generations to come.
Oooh Ghana. Interested to hear more
