The Wait Is Over, the Book Is Here: Scarlet Birthright, What They Left Behind
A Father's Choice, A Daughter's Fate 💔✨
Dear Scarlet Collective,
I'm thrilled to announce that "Scarlet Birthright: What They Left Behind" is now available everywhere and in every format.
This story began as a distinct moment for a single character in my Scarlet Yearnings collection, but Trisha refused to be contained in those few pages. She demanded her full story be told—the story of a daughter growing up separated from her father, of choices that echo across generations, and of finding the courage to make different choices than those who came before us.
In this novella, which spans from 1969 Trinidad to 1991, you'll meet:
Joromi, a young man under pressure from his father, whose fear of love leads him to abandon his first child
Trisha, the daughter yearning for his attention, learns to see how love presents itself in her blessed life and is determined to forge her path,
And the steadfast grandparents who undergo reflective change and make choices that become Trisha’s anchors. It's a tale of family drama, fear, redemption, and the transformative power of absence and presence.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Like the Cascadura fish of Trinidad legend that calls its people home, I hope this story calls you back to places in your heart you thought you'd left behind.
With gratitude,

Inside each bag of the "Scarlet Birthright" grand prize is a small red ribbon bookmark—a nod to the ribbon Trisha's father kept for twenty-one years, a silent witness to love that couldn't find its voice until it was almost too late. As you read, I hope this ribbon reminds you that it's never too late to speak your truth, that paths to redemption often appear when we least expect them, and that sometimes, the bravest act of love is simply beginning again. What will your ribbon witness?

As I chatted with advanced readers, I was surprised and humbled by how the story and the characters resonated. The narrative of a parent leaving or being absent is too familiar. A wife grappling with the birth of her husband’s child by another woman carries deep resonance. A grandmother choosing to raise (or having no choice) but to raise her children’s children. A child left behind.
I was that child.
As I wrote this book, I excavated feelings I didn’t know were there after all this time. So, for me and the folks who appreciate a guided workbook, I created Rhythms of the Soul: A Motivational Journal to Cultivate Gratitude and Inner Strength: Inspired by the Ancestral Wisdom and Family Stories of Scarlet Birthright.
